Wrapping Up September, a month of Meaningful Connections & Culture 🍫✨

Dear Cacao Lovers,

We are excited to share the wonderful events we participated in this September! It has been an inspiring month of connection, storytelling, and celebrating our heritage. Here’s a recap of how we’ve been spreading the magic of Maya Moon Cacao:

1. "Vamos Pa' Fuera a Caminar" – Latino Conservation Week

Date: September 17
During Latino Conservation Week, we had the privilege of participating in a hike organized by Patagonia Atlanta, where we served our sacred cacao. This event was created to encourage the Latino community to get outdoors and engage in conservation efforts to protect our natural resources. After the hike, we shared the history, culture, and mission of Maya Moon Cacao, raising awareness about our living culture and the importance of caring for the land—all while offering a cup of cacao. 🌿🍫

2. Storytelling Event at Patagonia Atlanta

We were invited to share our journey at the Patagonia Atlanta store, discussing the story behind the birth and growth of Maya Moon Cacao as a women-led Indigenous enterprise. We spoke about our deep connection to our ancestral roots and how we are creating positive change for our families, farmers, and the land. It was a special moment to reflect on how far we’ve come and the impact we continue to make through our work. ✨

3. Equinox Ceremony with SolDance Movement

In celebration of the Equinox, we hosted a cacao ceremonie in an estatic dance event from SolDance Movement, sharing cacao with 150 participants. The ceremony, guided by Maura Sacach in collaboration with Christina Della Lacono and Juan Pablo Ortiz, brought the group into deep connection with themselves, the earth, and the sun’s cycle. Through sacred cacao and heart-centered rituals, we connected with our sacred roots, creating a truly transformative experience for everyone involved. ☀️🌿

4. "Cacao: History, Culture, and Value" Talk at The Michael C. Carlos Museum

We had the honor of presenting at the Michael C. Carlos Museum at Emory University, offering a talk about the cultural significance of cacao in Mayan traditions. The event brought together around 100 educators from across Atlanta, allowing us to share the deep history of cacao, its connection to Mayan culture, and its role in our daily lives. This event was a beautiful opportunity to educate and inspire! 🎓🌿

Each of these events was incredibly meaningful, allowing us to share the work of Maya Moon Cacao, raise awareness about the respect for Mayan culture and history, and create lasting connections. We feel deeply empowered by the dignified work we do from the heart of the Mayan mountains, and we are grateful for every opportunity to spread that message.

Thank you for being a part of this journey with us!

With love and gratitude,
The Maya Moon Cacao Team
